Sunday Shopping #1

At the moment fabric fabric shopping is a window shopping exercise - apart from the 4 FQ I bought from M is for Make last week.

But it doesn't stop me having a wish list that I really MUST have.....

Hand Drawn Garden available at Hawthorne Threads
This is Hand Drawn Garden by Anna Marie Horner, who is one of my favourite designs. The colours are so vibrant and lush! I am still hoarding Field Study for a new quilt design I have in mind. They are all so pretty!

You can get Hand Drawn Garden from

The Village Haberdashery
Hawthorne Threads
Westwood Acres
Pink Chalk fabrics

There is a really good article about the which solids co-ordinate with the patterned fabric over at Pink Chalk Fabrics.

Next up is the new Sweetwater fabric range, Road 15.

I am a slightly obsessed hoarder of Sweetwater fabrics, OK so I am a major hoarder! I have a basket just for Sweetwater fabrics!

They are just so amazing in detail and colours, and Road 15 is no different! It is on my list for buying very soon...

You can get them from:

Simply Solids - Justine has pre-cuts at the moment.
Eclectic Maker
Fat Quarter Shop

Last is Lush Uptown by Erin Micheal:

This collection is amazing, the range of colours is perfect for the Autumn. A lovely combination of brown, greens, oranges and blues...

You can get them from:

Eclectic Maker
Fat Quarter Shop

I hope you enjoyed window shopping with me!

Birthday Stash!

One of my aims for February was to not buy anymore fabric, but I did spoil myself on my birthday this week..

Well, Country Threads was around the corner and they had a stash of Lucy's Crab Shack which I have been hankering after for AGES....

So I bought some home:

It is a modest little pile, but I love everyone of of them! So yummy!

They also had a charm pack are pretty rare, so I invested in that too...

I am so pleased to have finally bought some from this range. Sweetwater is one of my top 5 designers...

They are also had these that were calling me:

Love the greens and reds... so retro! They are ModCentury and  Stitch in Color.

So I fell off the no buying fabric band waggon! But I love them!

Take a jelly roll....

My first finish of 2013 was actually started and finished in just over a day this week!

It is the first demonstration quilt for my class tomorrow - I am slowly getting the supplies organised and boxed up...

Anyway here is the finished front:

Jelly Roll 1 Front
Yes, we still have snow!

It is simply made by piecing the jelly roll strips together in a haphazard way... I just plucked them out of the pile and sewed them, trying to to get the same colours next to each other!

I love this design, Mama Said Sew from Sweetwater... in fact I am kinda in love with all their designs!

The backing is from my stash and is Hometown by Sweetwater (seeing a theme building here??), which I have held onto for ages, but I am so glad I did!

The back

The text in the Sweetwater is always so lovely, so many things catch you eye each time you look at it!

Text and spots back

I have never used patterned fabric for a backing and I love the way it compliments the front. I quilted it using a walking foot and some Aurifil red thread, just simply lines that follow the seams of the jelly roll!

Back and Front

Another first is using the jelly roll as binding so the binding changes as it works it's way around the quilt!

Binding made up of different strips

The whole process has confirmed that I love text! Can't wait for my swap FQ from the text swap I blogged about!

Best get on with planning and packing up!

I really need...

I really need fabric... I REALLY need some of the gorgeous fabric I have found on line.... I REALLY DO!

Here are some of the fabrics I REALLY NEED:

Lucy's Crab Shack from FreshModernFabric
I love all of the designs from Sweet Water. I have a small stash of Hometown hidden away, but I REALLY love collection. Got to count out my pennies....

This bundle from Eclectic Maker is gorgeous:

Parson Gray from Eclectic Maker

This group of fabrics is so chilled out that it is cool! I love it! The Eclectic Maker has so many gorgeous bundles to choose from.... (drifts off in fabric heaven)

Next is my favourite bundle from Alice at Backstitch. I love this combination she has put together...

Pacific Rim from Backstitch
Alice always put together gorgeous bundles of FQ to tempt me... the bank manager might think I live in the Backstitch shop....

The last one (for now!) is the new collection from Denyse Schmidt, Chicopee:

Chicopee from Fat Quarter Shop
This collection catches my eye more than Fairview collection. Fat Quarter Shop has an amazing collection of fabrics....

Looking at the my must haves for this week they are all along the same lines of colour....

What are you must haves?

I'd love to see....
