Sunday Shopping #3

This week I have taught 5 classes, at 4 locations, in 3 days!

That is 45 people starting their sewing journey in of my classes!

All this activity has led to a HUGE hole in my fabric stock...I mean huge!

So this week I had to go fabric shopping, otherwise we will all be sewing thin air next week!

First I visited the lovely M is for Make - one of my favourite online shops for gorgeous collections and superb costumer service. There was a fabulous email in the week about the sale section so I headed straight there and filled my basket with these goodies:

Blossom Festival
Floral in blue
Running Stitch in Purple
I also got this in Pink! So lovely!

Stitch Square in Red
I also got some Comma just because I LOVE THIS!

I did buy more, but these are my favourite ones. They will be perfect for my classes.

Visiting M is for Make again today and discovered even more great fabrics in the sale section.... just working out if I can afford to stock up on more!

I also wandered over to The Village Haberdashery to check out their sale section:

Beechwood Park Picnic in Green
Beechwood Park Sunkissed in Aqua
In the Forest - Flowers
I also got some lovely Kona Glacier so I can start Noah's quilt for his Birthday in November using this lovely collection I bought a little while a go. Just thinking about the design of the quilt, Noah wants triangles of some sort.....

State Side Shopping

When I bought the fabric from Angie's Quilts for my first Tova - which I love by the way - I also bought some yardage from a shop in the States that I hadn't heard of before, Hawthorne Threads.

I had seen the name in a blog post I had been reading and obviously being a fabric addict I had to investigate!

I was not disappointed!

They have masses of fabric, I mean every collection under the sun and then some more!

I spent ages just scrolling through all of the pages, trying to decide if I could afford to shop...

Then I clicked on the sale section ....... OMG, I think I actually gasped!

It is packed full of gorgeous fabric at amazing prices. Plus they had a whole load of Tula Pink's Prince Charming which I wanted to back my bee quilt when I finish the missing block:

I have searched high and low for enough to back the quilt, so finding enough to do it meant I just had to shop...

I knew I wanted more Tovas so I started looking for other fabrics and I decided on these 2:

Graphic Mums by Heather Bailey

Birdy by Tanya Whelan
In all I ordered 10 yards, enough for a shirt, dress and quilt back. It worked out at $9.2 a yard which is £5.99 a yard, including postage. Just can't beat that for top rate cotton from the best in design....

My wonderful bundle arrived on Friday and was actually opened whilst chatting to the lovely postie, and the birdy fabric has already been transformed into a shirt that was worn all day Saturday!

GO and check out Hawthorne Threads, they are simply awesome!

Been Shopping...

I know it's early, but I wanted to share a fabulous sale on this weekend!

I have 2/3 quilts that need backing, the tops are done or very nearly done and I want to be able to back them in pretty fabric!

The problem is cash flow... backing quilts in pretty fabric is an expensive prospect - it takes lots of yardage and fabric is pricey!

The solution presented itself yesterday when the lovely Brenda from Pink Castle Fabrics tweeted about her moving sale!

Yes I know she is in the States, you can check out my thoughts on shopping from the US here.

But her sale section is fan-bloody-tastic, lots of amazing fabrics and designs for a fraction of the price and with her discount code MOVING15 you are laughing! A whole 15% off and she is keeping her shipping rates down for international customers if you spend over $50...

The numbers are all very nice, but what does it actually mean?

Well, I have just bought 9 yards of fabric for the grand sum of £44 including postage...

Wind in Hemisphere

4 yards of this to back an Amy Butler Hexagon quilt that I have had in my WIP pile for 2 years... Love the swirls and at $3.50 a half yard the perfect price!

Also I got 2.5 yards each of these:

Garden Posies in Cornflower
Swirly Posies in Cornflower
I loved these the last time I visited buying yardage to back Swoon, and I am so pleased I managed to get some! They are so bright and cheerful, they will make perfect backings!

So I now have the backings for my 2/3 quilts and at a very good price!

Go check out Pink Castle Fabrics, there are oodles of gorgeous fabrics and missing a fabric sale when you are a quilter is a letting down all quilters.... I tell you it is....

Weekend Sales

This weekend is a mega sale weekend in the States - I watched a really disturbing video of shoppers in in the US beating each other up trying to get to phones....

For quilters and fabric addicts it is a brilliant weekend to go shopping!

This morning I found some great sales that will last until Monday evening:

The wonderful Fabricworm have a fabulous 30% off their sale section, and their sale section has some amazing fabric!

There is some amazing fabric in this section and with the 30% off it all becomes even more appealing!

I really want the Chicopee, some Amy butler and Monaluna if you fancy treating me...

It's not just fabric shops that are having a sale, Craftsy is offering classes at a huge reduction:

It is a great way to try out a class, I have 5 classes on the go from the fabulous Leah Day, Angela Walters and Elizabeth Hartman. It is like having them in my studio talking me through the work I am doing, which is a bargain at $19.99!

I know these sales are across the pond, but there are some bargains here too...

M is for make has a fabulous sale on! A whooping 20% off everything using the code 'BlackFriday' after the paypal checkout. I have to say I took advantage of it and bought some Liberty fabrics that I have been swooning over for ages....

The fabulous Justine from Simply Solids has a sale too!

Use the code 'turkey' and you get 15% off everything... I am slowly building a stock of Kona solids so I might just have to add to it this weekend....

Go look, you know you want to!
